In the United States, the Congress in November, before the midterm elections, one of the most widely debated issues, the fight against illegal immigration.

Earlier today a session in the Legislative Council study committee on fraud in public benefit programs revealed that fraud in unemployment compensation claims is likely to rise this year for the third consecutive year in a row as claims themselves rise. From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article on the issue:
Fraud in Wisconsin's unemployment insurance program between 2007 and 2009 more than tripled to $17.7 million, according to state figures. That figure will likely grow in 2010 as more jobless workers file for benefits amid continued high unemployment, increasing the opportunities for fraud, Bergan said. ...

DOL Releases Fact Sheet on Break Time for Nursing Mothers Under FLSA
The fact sheet provides general information on the break time requirement for nursing mothers in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“PPACA”). From the fact sheet:

General Requirements
Employers are required to provide “reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk for her nursing child for 1 year after the child’s birth each time such employee has need to express the milk.” Employers are also required to provide “a place, other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion from coworkers and the public, which may be used by an employee to express breast milk.”

Smart Phones Mean Not so Smart Driving
Unless you have been living under a rock over the past five years, you've heard that using a cell phone while driving, or text messaging, could dramatically increase your risk of an accident. These risks increase several times if you're using an Android, iPhone, Blackberry or any other smart phone.

It shouldn't take super smarts to understand that using a phone that allows you to surf the web, send e-mail, and perform a dozen different activities while driving, increases your accident risks. It will however take super smarts to figure out effective solutions that can combat these risks. Simply asking people to switch off their smart phones while driving does not seem to work as well as Las Vegas car accident lawyers had hoped.

Dietary drug may cause liver damage

The FDA issued a warning regarding the use of the marketed drugs Xenical and Alli. The warning identifies rare but serious liver injuries. Both weight-loss medications contain the active ingredient, Orlistat.

There are currently thirteen reported cases of serious liver injuries throughout the world. The United States currently accounts for only one reported case. Currently, a cause-and-effect relationship has not been established.
